colour in the garden
by Dorothy
(Near Port Hope Ont)
It seems that having colour all year in the perennial garden is the most difficult part for most of us. Maybe we need to build a bigger library of plants for our own area's, so as to spread out the flowering season. A would like to build a file for plants that do well in my area with sufficient variety to give color and texture that lasts from spring till fall.

Do you have a list of perennials starting from those that bloom in April, those in May, those in June, etc and on up through the summer?
Sun vs. Shade
by Rachel Johnson
(Minnesota)
I have so much trouble with placement. Most of the places I have are neither completely sunny or shady I'd like to have some ideas on how to evaluate a potential planting spot, e.g. how much sun per day equals sunny, what do with filtered sun.
If this is sounds really dumb please disregard! I try to follow what the plant tags say and it just doesn't work most of the time.
