A White Clover Lawn is Xeric

I know most people consider White Clover a terrible weed in their lawns, but think about this - it stays green without water or fertilizer, never needs mowing, makes a thick and plush groundcover, the bees make great honey out its nectar, and it fills in bare spots fairly easily.
Can you use those words to describe any available turf grass?
We're trying to overseed our lawn with clover. We did have it pretty well covered one summer, but a nasty weed invaded the fescue, and the spray took out a lot of the clover mixed in with the grass.
The ironic part of this story is that clover seed is very expensive to buy. It is sold to grow green manure.
