Alien pecans?

We have a young pecan tree in our back yard and underneath it our young grandson's swing set.

One day last year, the first year we got pecans, I was playing with him on his swings when something hit me on the head. I looked all around and found a green looking thing and guessed it was an unripe pecan. Then wham, another one hit me on the head. Immediately, I grabbed my grandson and ran to the safety of the patio and started looking up and down that tree. There wasn't anything to be seen.

We went back to the swing set. Not a minute later, I was hit again. This time I took the defensive mode and started shaking branches. I heard a chattering and knew right off, I had an ornery squirrel or two up in that tree.

I started chattering back at them and all I got back was a few more pecans thrown at me with a lot a what I took be be squirrel talk to get away from their tree.

That was a fun day. We made friends with our little "alien" furry buddies and my grandson got to see first hand how to throw green pecans.
