Compost Enthusiasm

by Jan
(Illinois, USA)

When I decided to start making my own compost I became some what obsessed and dragooned my husband into making a pallet bin. Well, of course one bin worked fine until it was full and then I needed someplace to turn the compost in to. I'm currently up to 5 pallet bins.

Meanwhile I've tried 3 different manures (cow, horse, lama) and am an avid collector of "browns" and "greens". I bought a compost thermometer and excitedly report the temps of the piles. I realized maybe I was talking about compost too much when I over heard my husband tell some friends that when he dies, by all means come to the funeral but it would be best not to stick around for the interment.

Interment in the compost
by: Nori

That's so funny! I've always made the joke that I should just be buried under the compost pile when I go. I thought it would be cool to have my progeny commenting at some later date about how the roses had never looked so lovely before Mama was added to the bed!

I know the feeling.

My new enthusiasm for composting has my husband joking about it whenever he can to whomever he can. Even though we discussed the subject before I started it, he pretends to dread the whole thing. Too bad!!
