Designing the Perennial Garden Part 2

by Doug
(in his garden somewhere)

This is part 2 of designing the perennial flower garden so it blooms all year long.

The secret here is in 2 things. The first is plant selection and the second is plant placement.

Essentially, you pick plants that bloom in different times - equal numbers that bloom in the early spring, summer, and fall.

And you mix them into the garden in the drifts created in the first exercise (see video 1) in different but complementary ways through the garden. Equal spread to get a good show of blooms in all parts of the garden in all months. And complementary (not covered in the video) to get plant combinations that work well together (the subject of future videos and articles)

But this gets you started - and creating good looking perennial flower gardens that are in bloom all summer.
