A home made garden ? .. just an eager, amature gardener who loves plants and throws caution to the wind .. with a bit of common sense mixed in .. haven't we all at some time ?
Kingston, Ontario, zone 5b, aka the "Twilight Zone" of weather conditions. It all depends on which side of the 401 highway you live on at times here .. makes life interesting .. I can experiment with higher zone plants and some times it works. Except for that illusive Himalayan Blue Poppy .. I would have had to take out a second mortgage on the house to continue that obsession !
I have borders and islands of perennials, vines, shrubs, roses and trees .. not forgetting wonderful ornamental grasses ..
Birds love the garden. Goldfinches sparkle with colour and sound starting in the Spring to early Autumn.
You have to have a sense of humor being a gardener .. I can admit to a few pieces of garden whimsy art, otherwise known as garden "kitch" .. tasteless, possibly tacky ? but hey it is my world and I can humour myself, right ?
When things are going wrong or you can't get that plant you love to "take" .. throw in a silly ornament for the mean time and work around it .. you are going to have to chuckle once in a while !
In any case .. mostly pictures with my blog .. they speak for themselves .. but now I'm adding a bit more of a narrative .. experiences and maybe even some practical tips ?
