You've reached the main garden review pages listing all the kinds of products, books and plants I review after testing them in my gardens and bookshelf.
In writing garden product reviews, let me make several things clear from the outset. The first is that I look at these products with the experience of over 30 years as a professional gardener - in my own nursery and some of the biggest in North America. And those garden-years are commercial years where the tool - the right tool - could make the difference between getting a job done properly and easily or hacking and chopping through a task.
I value great tools and products.
The second thing to understand is that many companies will send me "stuff" to test and evaluate. I make no promises on these - my responsibility is to my readers, to tell them the truth. My responsibility is not to the manufacturers but I always do my best to give an honest trial, an honest test measured against my experience or against other products in similar trials. And many of the tools and trials here are from material I have purchased for my own gardening use. I make it clear in each trial which is which.
I value my readers first.

" These special fertilizers for special crops are gradually increasing in number, so that some dealers now offer fifty kinds, different brands being offered for plants belonging to the same family. There is an ignorant assumption in this, and any cultivator of ordinary intelligence cannot fail to see that the motive in so doing is to strike as broad a swath as possible, so that a larger number of customers may be reached and a higher price obtained."
