This page was supposed to be about garden soil but garden seminar participants decided they needed to know about compost first. So this course content is exclusively compost based.
Everything in the garden starts with getting the soil right and if you do that - your garden will be better - more productive, healthier and easier to do. If you mess up your soil, you'll simply find yourself struggling without knowing why.
I simply can't emphasize this enough. Most serious perennial gardeners know that if the soil is right, they can grow a much broader range of plants (including ones that can't grow "here")
Vegetable gardeners know the health of their plants and their produce depdnds on fhe health of the soil.
And yes, organic matter and compost are critical components of what we're covering in this series.
