Everbearings Do Do Runners
by: Jimmy S.

We've found matted-row method is OK for certain everbearing strawberry cultivars, particularly Ozark and Tribute. They are not as "prolific" at developing runners as most June-bearing options but they do OK. Hints: Keep your "main" row relatively intact and let several runners from each plant develop down the sides. Cut the runner from it's mother plant after its solidly rooted. After two years, replace mother plants with "newest" runners.

Wild strawberries
by: Gail

My son gave me a flat of "wild strawberries" left over from a native plant sale at a nature center. I planted them late in the summer and they grew great. From what little I know about wild strawberries, it seems like they do not produce runners. However, my plants have runners everywhere. How can I tell if these are wild strawberries or not? Do wild strawberries produce enough fruit to make them worth growing?

Red leaves in fall?

What does it mean when the strawberry leaves turne red in the fall? is this normal or is it a nutrient deficiency or what?

Everbearing Summer Care
by: Beth

Your comments on summer care seem like they don;t apply to everbearing varieties (mow down, fertilize after bearing). What should the care be for everbearing?

re Can't see the download
by: macnuttian

I couldn't see it either until I downloaded the latest version of Adobe Acrobat (that would be '9'). If you aleady have it installed ... then I dunno. Good luck. Much great information. I'm quite the heretic around here as my neighbours seem to think mulching will have evil repercussions. Very thankful for the confirmation of my practices.
