Growtech Eliminaweed

Described as a "fermented vinegar" with a single warning that it contains the Allergen SOY (soybean) this is the first of the organic weed control evaluations I'm working on.

It is labelled as having 7.15% acetic acid. Nothing else is indicated on the label but there are clearly other ingredients in the bottle I used - a heavy herbal/citrus/clove kind of smell.

First - I have to say the act of spraying individual weeds with a small pump hand-sprayer is a pain in the butt or slightly higher up. There are easier mechanical ways of killing plants rather than bending over weed by weed to pump some vinegar on them. But in the interests of the trial I did it.

Burdock patch number one - totally covered, lightly covered with mist. 24 hours later, no effect.

Burdock patch number two - totally covered, heavily sprayed to runoff - 24 hours. Inner leaf burned but outer sections where spray would have runoff to center still green.

Dandelions - heavily sprayed - 24 hours later they were withered but still capable of functioning as leaves. No heavy damage compared to the effect of the vinegar/salt mix I normally use that burns them heavily.

Grass - variable from well burned and brown to lightly or partially brown.

Bottom Line

Bottom line when it comes to this organic weed control evaluation - this is not as effective as the home made spray, and is costly. I could not justify paying $10 for a litre of vinegar that doesn't work well.
