  • Gaillardia is one of the longest blooming perennials in the mid-summer garden *if* you keep it deadheaded. Allow it to go to seed and the blooms slow down. It's a short-lived perennial and I depend on self-sowing to keep it coming.

  • Sarracenia or pitcher plant. There are many varieties of this plant around and the key here is to understand it is a bog plant and you have to get the ones that are hardy for your area. My problem in a USDA zone 4 garden is that few of the really newer hybrids are hardy. :-(

  • Hollyhock - I had this plant in my garden for a few years but for some reason it died out and I lost the strain. I rather liked the fringed look and the color was excellent. No idea where you can find it. Sorry.

    by: DiAnn

I live in the Panhandle area of Florida and would like to add peonies to my garden. Which varieties are best for areas close to Panama City, FL.?
