I've used these landscaping pictures to illustrate a few points about general landscape design concepts.

The frontyard landscape sitting area reminds us that without a place to sit, the only time you go into your garden is to work. The first rule of enjoying a garden is to spend time in it - whether you're reading, visiting or just enjoying the environment (see my bird pictures for how I often spend my early mornings sitting in my garden)

A red blue and green color combination is a quick and easy one to do with a tremendous amount of interest and power in the colors. Combining easy plants with primary colors is a fast and dirty way to make a garden statement.

Hiding parts of your garden with hedges or shrubs or fencing makes the garden seem bigger. If you can't see it all from any given point of view, it will "seem" bigger than it really is. This can be done with small or large gardens.

And finally, the garden fairy reminds us that our gardens are indeed very personal and possibly whimsical. You get to include what you like in your garden; there is no right or wrong way in my thinking. It's *your* garden - enjoy it in the way you like rather than what some "expert" says is the best way.
