New arrival

New arrival

Our garden is a monarch waystation, and throughout the summer we've had numerous monarchs hatching. I caught this one just as the chrysalis split and followed it through to fully opened wings.

This is wayyyyyy cool. You must have been very patient waiting for this to happen. I have never seen a butterfly emerge. Maybe someday if I'm patient enough

Amazing photo! It is unusual to find this stage in garden...good for You! Great color, clarity and composition. It would be great fun to photograph stages of the filling out of the wings (or video).

Beautiful New Arrival
by: Donalda

This is such a neat picture. You can actually see the wings with the newly hatched crumples still in them, waiting for a good shot of warm sun to dry them,as they unfurl. The long tube for sucking nectar is shown all curled up ,ready for use. This picture captures something that most of us never see. Good shot!
