Pillow Created with Leaves from my (now departed) Birch Tree

As you can see, my beloved
Birch tree lives forever. I used the leafs as "stamps" - each leaf and stem applied with fabric paint, that I had to mix myself to the desired shade to match the decor in the room, where this pillow is being used. Also, you DO need a steady hand, as there is only "one chance", otherwise your work could be ruined.

Very clever! You MUST have a very steady hand--and you have a nice sense of color, too.

CHRISTA: regarding the blue asters...
by: Ferne, Kamloops

The basic type to look for is ASTER Frikartii...You might not get exactly the same thing, but close. There are a few varieties of this. Both the plant and the flowers are bigger than they look in the picture. Leaves are a good size too. These start blooming early in summer, not in the fall like the Michaelmas types. They are still going strong now though, as the michaelmas (New England) type just start to flower. It is a plant worth looking for.

Neat idea Christa! What a creative way to keep favorite trees in mind, and it looks like you have that steady hand, it turned out lovely!

DESIGNER PILLOW
by: Ferne, Kamloops, B.C.

Yep...artistic. Not an easy thing to do. From a design perspective or any other. I don't think I would have the patience for that. And I KNOW I don't have the steady hands. Can I borrow it? It would fit in just wonderfully in my living room....not that there's room for one more blessed thing in here.
