Annual Salvia Pictures

Salvia are a wonderful family of plants and while the breeders have been working overtime to bring us new colours, let me offer this somewhat jaded gardener's point of view.  Many of the "new" perennials are at best hardy annuals and I'd suggest you check out each new variety carefully before spending big bucks on a tough annual plant.

The plant on this page is indeed an annual.

Salvia 'Victoria Blue' is an "olde and golde" variety that still performs well for me. Growing 24-30 inches tall, it will bloom from the end of June to September (deadhead it) if planted as a starter plant in mid-May.

Plant it in the full sunshine

Plant approximately 12-18 inches apart

Deadhead to extend blooms (prune off spent flowers and it will rebloom)
