Doug's Lazy Square Foot Garden System
Step One Get yourself to a building supply store and buy the cheapest trellis you can find. In my case, there were a few left here when we bought the house. But they're cheap plastic and you may even be able to find them at a garage sale. I've seen them in some of the big box stores for a few bucks. You only need one.
Lay it on the garden soil.
Measure the distance between squares.
You now know how many squares is a square foot.
Press down hard on the trellis.
This is going to make a funky pattern in the soil.
You can do it your way by pressing down hard with your hands or you can do it my lazy-gardener way.
Now all you have to do is plant.
