Feeding the Hummers

Feeding the Hummers

I just held in my hands a ruby throated iridescent HUMMING BIRD! I am thrilled.

I don't know what happened, but it was on the ground, I picked it up carefully and it was looking at me!

I held it in cupped hands and stroked it and I thought it's neck was broken, I prayed "Dear Lord please heal this beautiful creature as there is no way I could help it but be your hands."

I called Dan to come look! there were other hummers coming and flying up and down my body and hovering as I stroked and prayed. I opened my hands, it hovered, landed in my hand again, then hovered up to my face, and looked into my eye, I am misty typing this....the others still flew around me. then it flew to a tree nearby, and I continued to go out and hang laundry. they kept flying around me as if to say thank you, or else to imprint me..?

I am on such a high!
and I have thanked the Lord in all his Glory.

I have asked the Lord for 3 things that were special from my soul....one was to see my real mother at least once. (I did, only did not know it was her till yrs later.

I asked that my parent accept and understand my gift before they passed away.. and they both did.

and I asked that I be able to hold a beautiful hummingbird in my hands....and I JUST DID!

thank you Lord.

I just had to share this.

"Napoleon"
by: Joan

We had a humming bird fly into our garage and by the time we caught him he was stunned. Each time we let him go he would fly back into the garage or into a window. He just couldn't get oriented. We held him a while before hanging him on the screen of the porch. At day break he was gone and we saw him later at the feeder. It was indeed a treat and the kids will always remember when we got to hold "Napoleon" the little, bossy hummingbird.

Very touching

Your story has touched my heart, and thrilled me to no end at the thought of what you experienced with that sweet little bird. All birds are special of course, but a hummingbird is unique and you are so blessed to have had such a happening.

Thank you

thank you Wanda, I am a bit sad as I fill the feeders every other day now, mid Oct. in Ohio. it has been 4 days since I've seen my little friends. I guess they are on route south and I will look forward to see if my little ruby throated male comes back in the spring.

More to the story

Sadly, when this happened there was no camera around, so I don't have a picture of the bird in my hands, but I would go out everyday to fill the feeders and the same tiny bird would come to my face, I will share another excerp from this spring...

Had to share this morning's bonding with the Hummers.

my little friend came and sat on the feeder looking at me. then a female and 2 other males, one ruby throat, one iridecent green and cream throat.... all buzzed up and down my sides to my knees, then up right in my face. the female landed and her tongue is even longer than the tiny beak. she was really looking me over.. she would eat, then turned to size me up.
The little male was there feeding with her, then 2 older males circled my head.. I could feel the wind beneath their wings, AWESOME! I was concerned they could tangle in my hair, they didn't but they eventually landed and fed also. I was thrilled. Dan did not get pictures. We now try to have a camera handy.
