I took this picture in my vegetable garden this summer. Despite the tomato worm's big appetite, the plant managed to produce tomatoes !

Tomato hornworm
by: Donalda

I've always marvelled at the pretty pattern along the side of these big caterpillars.I have taken pictures of some that are black instead of green, but they still have the distinctive side pattern.I have raise a black one in a cage .It pupated and the next spring it's moth was exactly the same as the moth of the green caterpillar.

Good picture of the tomato worm. Here is some info. Glad he left you some fruit.

Colloquially known as the "tomato bug", the tomato hornworm is the caterpillar of the Tobacco Sphinx, Manduca sexta or Manduca quinquemaculata, large night flying moths.

Great shot, its a wonder you have any tomatoes after this guy. My Great Grandma used to let her chickens roam through her tomatoes, they love eating tomatoe worms.
