They are WHAT

I was a young girl,homeless and wanting someone to teach me how to take care of myself and my child. i wanted to learn how to cook. so that is where my friend Miss Ardel came into the picture.

Now Miss Ardel was a farmers wife and had a great garden and she taught me alright. I was the best darn weed puller you ever saw. I loved the garden though and I loved her for taking me in and helping me.

Soooooooooo one day she was teaching me how to make chicken pies . we chopped and sliced and made dough . Ohhhhh the best dough.

Anyway we put in the spices when she said ,"Hy pat go to the garden and bring me some parsley."

Now I was not about to tell her I didn't know what parsley was I didn't want to disappoint her . So off to the garden I went. I had a pretty good idea what it might look like so I carefully scanned the garden for the precious parsley. Oh i found it ,it was nice and tall and full I didn't have to cut to many we only needed a little.

So back to the kitchen I went with my treasures.
She told me to clean them in the sink and chop them fine and that she would show me how all was going welll tilllllllllllllll "Oh my" she said in surprise . Hold it a minute . would you show me where you got this ahhhhhhh parsley. I said why yes I certainly will and out we went to the garden again all the while I was thinking I didn't cut enough.

As we walked through the tomatoes,cucumbers and the likes I stopped with the biggest smile and said here. Here is where i got the them and do you want me to get you more.

With that she lost it . I didn't understand what was sooo funny.

When she finally slowed down enough so as she could talk she said. I am so glad I came out here be for I sent you for carrots I wouldn't have a piece of parsley left .

What she was trying to tell me was I had just cut all the tops off her carrots. Ahhhhhhhhh to be so young and innocent.

How I love visiting those good old days in the memories of my past. I hope you have patience with the next young person you try to teach. For you see I am 63 and I never forgot the wonderful compassion that woman had for me .

Children never forget so don't you.
