Two Birds in the Hand

Early one morning I needed to go to the store in town. If I was to have my cereal I needed some milk. I stepped out the front door and discovered one of my tires looked low.
I checked it with a gauge and sure enough it was down to 25 lbs. Inside the front hall is a utility area and one of the things I keep there is an air compressor. I needed to pull the hose out the door and prop the door open so the hose wouldn't get squashed. I then filled up the tire and thought while I was at it I would check the other tires.
Wouldn't you know it they were all low. So I filled them all and began rolling up the hose, when I heard a fluttering in the house.
I really couldn't tell what the sound was but I have a cat and she is always into something. I continued to roll up the air hose and went into the house.
I saw the cat in the back of the sink, kind of strange to see her there cause she was afraid of water. I slowly walked over to the sink not knowing what I was going to see.
Above the sink in the window was a hawk and the cat was pawing at it, but hadn't got to it yet. I went in the other room and got a leather work glove.
After a couple of tries I managed to grasp the hawk and I held it in such a way that the claws were positioned beween my fingers. When I held the hawk to look to see if it was ok it looked at me with fear, mouth wide open and screeching.
It seemed to be ok so I took it out the back door opened my hand and off it flew. I went to the front door and was about to open the door and another bird flew across my nose and landed in the dining room. I could see this one clearly, it was a morning dove.
Got my glove and removed it from the window and let it out the front door. I really didn't realize how long I was out front while putting air in my tires. I guess it was long enough for the hawk to chase the dove into my house.
I saved the hawk from the cat and I saved the dove from the hawk and I felt good.
